Sounds good. Could you add examples to show how this works and how to use it? Before and after or step-by-step would be great.

The first pic (using Vue) show how a lot of atifacts are created if using the image as the bump map (an option within Vue) the second pic shows the bump mapping using the filter to generate the bump map.

Ae what kind of images are you trying to upload? I tend to do them as jpg's.

if you post them directly on this site, the ff forums, then they'll be here when a remote site may change or go down and you lose the images. thus, i'd recommend posting them here. normal file types are allowed, like jpg, png, bmp and maybe a few others and there's a limit of 250k max file size, which is good for a fairly decent representation if the image size isnt too large.

but, if you insist on a remote site, i'd use imageshack. free, can use up to a meg file size, i think, and they're not likely to be going down any time soon.

Ok I'll try that again smile;)

The first pic shows the bump map generated from the colour map in Vue - giving a rough surface.

The second pic show the same scene but using a bump map generated by the filter to smooth out the paint but to produce bump (negative) for the rust.
