Thanks Ghislaine, glad you like it, but although these examples look good, I have tried it on normal photos and the results are not good and there is TOO much snow and does not make it right, so I will have to see how to make it better, if not I will put here a pre-release version.

Thanks for your comment and glad you think this could be useful and nice.

I was not going to make much of it, but I have cleaned it up and make it work better with images and I have just uploaded to the FF Library

great so you did use that LUA script that breaks the Mac version of FilterForge lol.

Would appreciate a version with out it posted here.

Sorry, for using this, how could I know that this LUA Script breaks the Mac version ? In the Hard Shadows comments page there is no news about this.

Does this mean that this does not work in Mac?

Well, I really do not know what is the difference from having it from the library than posting it here, as I think is the same thing but anyway for you I have attached it here

Please Skybase, feel free to make whatever remix you want, and if you find a fix for the LUA script that is not working on Mac, would be great for all the Mac users.

The LUA component does WORK OCCASIONALLY but its basically super buggy and broken on the Mac version. No matter what script you put in, how many fixes you make, the core is broken therefore the entire thing breaks without being unable to do anything.

You can read all of us mac users crying here: http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...ssage93585

This is why I was asking for a version without the hard-shadows part, which you ... haven't uploaded.

And that message regarding me saying PUT IT UP FOR REMIX is old. You uploaded it to the library right after that so you can ignore that message.

smile:p I called for a remix because you basically have a very basic surface filter. It's like my inner artist saying "Add some texture to it! Where's the snowy look?" I was thinking well if its this simple, it can be a great base for something cool. Regardless of what you think about this, how lowly you may assume this filter is to you the point was that an idea is an idea and it should be prized and worked on instead of ending it where it is right now. So I thought I'd take the opportunity and design it further and give you a lateral look to it.

Sorry that I did not understand you, so what you want is that I make the same filter without using the LUA script so it will work on Mac, I would do it if I knew HOW to do it, but I am sorry that I can´t do it, as I do not know how to replace the script.

Perhaps you can see this Ice Age of Time by MeKenzie.

derp.

All I'm asking for was the LUA less version of the filter on the forum. Where's the difficulty in that? Not asking you to remake a filter completely or do anything about it. smile:| I know you can't achieve the shadow effect without the lua part. yeh?

I basically wanted to give it a shot by faking the shadows using native components instead of using the LUA component. Also give it'll be like a tutorial on detailing and stuff like that cause its a pretty simple filter. Meaning there's a lot of leg room right now. I'm taking it as a nice opportunity you know? smile:p

And I'm not asking for alternatives. I don't care about alternatives. I care about what you've made. smile:) ok?

Otherwise I'd be making my own but I want to use somebody else's for the sake of neat ideas done by somebody else.

I am very sorry, but I do not understand and know which one is the "LUA less version" smile:?: smile:?:

Let´s see, this filter is made from the Mercury Contamination filter and the Hard Shadows filter, and the one that contains the LUA script is the Hard Shadows. I only have one version of the filter and I am sorry to tell that I do not know what you are requesting. smile:?:

Do you want a non working filter that contains all the parts of the filter without the LUA connected? (See the end of this post)

If you are not asking that I make the filter without the LUA script and you want to make it yourself what is stopping you from making it from the available filter that is the only one I have? smile:?:

You can make and try to do the faking or similar effect of the same shadows with FF components instead of the LUA script, and it could be interesting for the tutorial and as you say there can be a lot of room to be improved.

Yes, you want to make the same filter without the LUA script and not an alternative to this filter, this I know, but what I have done is to mix both filter (look above) in a way to get this effect and clean and customize the results and optimize the settings so they look good and to give the snowy effect and the light works right and to give some variations and options.

What I do not understand is why you can´t use my filter as it is now? smile:?:
What is wrong in this version of the filter (apart from having the LUA script) that you can benefit for the rest of the filter and delete the map script component

After thinking on this all I can reach to understand is perhaps that you CAN´T open the filter in your FF and so you want to have a version that does not have the LUA script connect to the filter and so you would be able to open and see it inside.

So here I have made a non working version with the LUA part not connected to the result component

Here is what I have done to disconnect the LUA script

Also I have to say that from the test I have done and I think that the two highlighted components of the Map script below are useless in this filter as I can´t see any visual difference and think this does do nothing but did not want to take them out in case this could be needed for the script to work right.

haha yeah. Anything with the LUA component crashes FilterForge hardcore on the Mac version. (This mildly depends on what the LUA script is it seems, but the crash is uniform.) Basically I had no way of opening your filter. It's a global (as in "program-wide" issue. Not the LUA script's fault.) It's like one of the biggest things FilterForge needs to fix that's yet to be fixed.

In terms of removing a part, you basically just had to disconnect the whole part of it and as long as the LUA doesn't render, it won't crash the thing. Basically by rendering you're calling up the LUA component which causes the issue. The rest of the filter remains fine.

Well I finally have guessed what you wanted and glad that can be now useful to you

You could have told from beginning, "please, disconnect the Lua script component so it does not reach the result component and put this filter in the forum", would have been much better and much easier to understand smile;) smile:D

Well, then we share something Macs and Windows versions, we both have a big unfixed bug that is very bad, you have this LUA script error, and we have the "Bad allocation" error and wish and hope that they get fixed soon
