btw question: are most of what you upload final works? Or are they more like examples? :o

No, most of them, well 95%, are only just tests, examples and experiments I make. Regretably I still do no work yet as a freelancer as you. |

I mean that's pretty interesting. So "almost all" the pictures you produce are examples of filters. So I guess you enjoy the program in that it produces pretty imagery to see rather than enjoying it as a practical tool?
![]() I just do freelance work for money, plus it's my expertise. But most of what I post and publish online are personal works. My commercial works are actually quite dull. I've only had a couple moments where I was given a chance to do whatever I felt like. |

Well, it would be long and difficult to explain why I do it this way and what reasons are carrying me to do it so.
Well, very good for you that you can earn a living and get money fr om making what you like and with artistic things, and I think that you enjoy and like it. Also this brings the way freedom to do your own personal projects for yourself. I have been trying to get paid with art without sucess.
Well, as far as i know normally the clients do not allow that you the freedom to do whatever you would want, and their idea is not the best one, but you have to do it as they want, because they are paying you for this. |

Nice! Just as a small suggestion: add fog to it to simulate depth

Yes, using a gradient with Scale turns a 2D into that tunnel
Well, is a good idea, but I do not like things that are not sharp and clear, and putting fog would make it more blury in my opinion. So I am against any of the focal blur techniques to give some depth so popular by many, but I do not like them at all. The conversion into a tunnel is very simple ![]() |

Blur? said fog. Fog != blur.
When anti-alias applies to areas of high frequency, it leaves artifacts. Scaling to 0 causes artifacts to emerge as a result of AA. ![]() |

Actually I just realized this says quite a load about your personality. It's this love for clarity over symbolism. Expansion over allusion. Facts over metaphor. Intelligibility over synecdoche. The psyche right there's saying stuff. "The question of Being" (with the capital b) like Heidegger would have mentioned somewhere along the lines. Thought I'd just drop you that thought. Don't worry, if you don't get it. ![]() |

Thanks.Well this is an early version, when I develop it more I will upload it to the library. SHAPES COLLAGE I have been inspired by something I have seen on internet with a basic shapes collage, and I wanted to try it and this is what I have got, and now I want to be able to fill theme all with different colors and images, it has until now 20 shapes that are fixed (there is no control to change them to avoid confusion) using 4 bombers and you can have them with white ot black background, inverting the shape, so really is 40 shapes. ![]() |

I just think there's this common thread that goes through people who make filters. Just this point where I realize I'm basically making the same thing as what somebody else would have done. Just doing something differently. But in the natural progression it seems like something comes out familiar to what I was doing just a while back. [Edited for clarity]

It seems that we got similar ideas ![]()
Yes, is true and it may happen and could be done similar things in different ways 3D BALLS FILLING FLOOR I have used the 3D Smudge snippet by ThreeDee and modified the filter to be able to make more customizations and control better how it works ![]() |

Thanks for your comment and for the link to the Xia Script, I agree that is a very good way to make shapes and cool done, AND also thanks to your suggestion I have discovered something interesting and useful that I was looking for and could not find until I have seen the xirja filter inside, so you have helped me even more. |

Hello, is curious that in all this years, nobody have thought to make a filter with circles with colorful rings inside that is a very popular thing on internet.
The only similar thing is from Skybase Gradient Circles, but these are just plain transparent circles. I have done the filter with 25 color controls, 5 circle shapes with 5 rings inside and 1 bomber, although in the examples all the rings are exactly the same, I have done it so you can modify the width and size of each of the rings to have irregular rings. ![]() |

And what I have never seen yet, is to have this colorful circles with rings FILLED with textures and images, that is possible to make easily inside FF
![]() This is not a very good example, because the textures are reduced very much when going inside the bomber, and if you resize them with scale component then you are loosing the seamless tiling, so I think that you must feed the textures already scaled from outside so they look good ![]() |

This circles could have a great amount of combinations of colors and do not have to all have different colors, you could also use black, and white with red only, or have different other color combinations, and also mix with textures.
Also I have thought that instead of plain colors you could also paint with aquarelle some color textures and use them inside the rings, so they do not look so plain. Here are some examples I have found Google images for colorful circles Also have seen that the artist Bharti Kher have done some atrworks with this rings inside circles as seen here Bharti Kher circles artwork And more can be seen here as shown in this google images search |

Following the circles topic, I thought another different and alternative way to do it, instead of having only plain color or texture applied to the ring, what would happen if I use the 5 Images circular tiling by ThreeDee with the bomber?
Well, trying it I got this example where is show that works very well, although you must have an resolution size of about 4000x4000 to really see it well ![]() |

Going back to the shapes collage I have shown above, I have finally made 28 shapes (maybe I will include 4 more) and have tried 3 different ways to do it, 2 of them with bomber that did not work well, (as it gets complex and difficult to control the distribution of the shapes) and the third way is not using bomber and using the way that ThreeDee have cleverly done here in this filter and also suggested very well by Skybase in the second post of this thread
I have done it already in black and white, rainbow style, and filling the shapes with a background image, and now I am making the complex part that is to fill optionally EACH one and single shape with 2 colors or 2 images each one, and be able to have also gradients and shadows inside each one of the shapes. This fourth part is shown a little in the fourth image below. 56 color controls? The problem with this is that I still do not know how to do the individual colorizing, as this would need to have 56 color controls!! ![]() Lookup table for the colors I think that instead of this amount of color controls it could be done a Lookup table to feed the colors to the shapes, but the lookup table should work automatically and not through a manual slider, so I thought that it could be used the new loops to automate it (as I have already suggested and asked in this thread here but it seems that is very complex too do, and also additionally the look up must be done also automatically or randomly by itself inside FF, and I do not know how to do all this, so will keep with the more simple solution of using colors controls instead that I can use and understand. ![]() |

Nah don't complicate yourself over lookup tables.
I've suggested stuff like this: ![]() The idea here is that the user can pick 1 color and FilterForge determines the rest of the colors based on the 1 color selected. The point is that there are color harmonies. Colors do have specific relations which "work". Basically the point here is to reduce the workload on part of the user, instead have 1 control which serve as the control for everything else. I don't exactly know if you'd find use for that but it's a suggestion nonetheless to keep your colors in check and in balance. The example above hardly uses anything advanced but it's limited. So I'm reworking it right now. It basically rotates the hue at a set angle but it doesn't do so for value and saturation params. The thing is once you have color harmonies, design (especially in the case above) will work. You'll end with strong harmonious relations and so on. In the end design is about harmonies. |

Yes. it may be perhaps too complex and/or difficult to do for 28 shapes.
This is a very good suggestion but I do not know how to make color schemes like these in Filter Forge, and there is no filter available for this in the library, I mean that the only way I know is through the 3 or 5 gradient component and using after Profile gradients, but they are ALL together and not separate colors.
This would be very good and easy for the user and have many colors based on color harmonies would look nice, BUT there is a problem I find, in the groups you are showing there is up to 5 different colors but there is ONLY 1 OUTPUT from each group so HOW would you make that each shape would have a different color from the color harmonie? Is there a way to separate the colors to link them to each of the shapes? and considering that there are 28 different shapes how would you do it? |

I have had the idea to use the awesome and great ThreeDee FF Fonts with my own filter Color Squares with Photos
I replaced the photos with the letters, and I want that you can have the plain color backgrounds or you own choosen image backgrounds, and also be able to fill the inside of the letters if you want. Here is a simple example. In this one I have stretched the letters to the maximum size so they touching together and so create a big black texture of lines made with the letters. ![]() |

I have seen this music video U2 - Lemon and thought about making a filter with the same grid in the background and using images to be mixed with them and be able to make the grid variable, and maybe also be able to have images filling the smaller squares too.
For this I am using the great and well done snippet made by ThreeDee Pixel-Based Grid Snippet by ThreeDee To make a better effect I have to figure out to remove the black background from the filter, as using blend modes does not always give a good effect Here is a quick test ![]() |
