This seems to be somewhat of a fasion these days. May I ask what's wrong with having FF1 and FF2 compatible filters on the library? |

+1 uber, the filters you listed may contain "old" techniques, but they're still of interest to the FF community. Should you really decide to delete them fr om the library, I'd suggest that we create a "legacy snippets" forum thread wh ere we can preserve these kinds of historically interesting techniques. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

The thing is, there's still people out there using FF1 who will suddenly find that all the useful snippets have gone, and then they cry.
Release the Mongoose! |

Yep, me too. In fact, when I create a new filter I try (If I remember ![]() I only release an FF3 filter if it has an FF3 exlusive component in it. Or if I forgot and made it in FF3 and it's too complex to rebuild again in FF2... ![]() Imagine all the gas stations decided not to sell petrol anymore. I mean, there's natural gas, there's electric cars. Petrol is so FF2. Let's get rid of it ![]() |

^ What they said. I was stuck on FF1 for the longest time, and snippets like yours helped me out on many occasions. I'm not sure if removing "obsolete" filters is necessary !

I'm working on a filter based on the Spiral arm uber's filter. I have changed all the obsolete gradients and all the older checkers and this is ok because it does not change the result. But I need the obsolete offsets because with the newest offset, this change completely the result. I'm creating a spiral with dots. If I cannot conserved the obsolete offset, I will have to say googbye to my spiral dots.
I think that we must have the choice to work with obsolete components. visit https://gisoft.ca |

Gigi, the new offset acts differently than the obsolete one, but you can fix the valuesof the input and get the same result with the new one. I'm sure uberzev, or any of the other old timers can help you with it.
There is an option to do that. In the main FF window (not the editor), go to tools > options..., and inder the "Filter editor" tab check the "Show the Obsolete category on the components bar" option. Now you will be able to use all the oldies ![]() |
