I should not have to ask for help on how to download "more filters" but here I am.
This process should be so simple even a child could do it.

In the past I finally did figure it out without using the obsolete method.
This time around after several hours and google searches I am still scratching my head.

I use Chrome and Internet Explorer. I am logged in. I have FF 5 on Windows 10 64 bit. Yes I tied drag and drop without success.

What is wrong with FF people. Love-Hate. Love their product but hate that they waste my time to attempt to download "more filter". And right this minute a real strong hate.

They make it easy to open the filer in FF so why not also provide a download button so to have a choice?

So please help me and tell me step by step how to download preferably 10 filters at a time.

Do the filters automatically go to the correct Library Filters folder?

Last time I used the website method to get "more filters"
There were little x's to indicate the filters that I had
already downloaded. No more! I have logged in and they
are still trying to sell me FF 5 which I bought a month ago.
So back in 2014 getting "more filters" was easier.

Yes, they are laughing all the way to the bank! They are doing every
thing to to make sure that I buy their upgrade software.
Looks like they will laugh even more when I spend the not the
$29 as they make sure you go all the ways for the big $69.

I can hear the laughter getting louder already.

The process is already VERY simple and very easy to use, and works already very well fr om my little experience and I have not had any problem. You only go to Filter Forge filters library page and only have to click on the "open this filter with Filter Forge"

In the website method (go to Filter Forge filters library page there is NO little x´s anywhere that indicates that you have downloaded this filter, the website does not know which filters you have downloaded or not

This that you are telling only happens in the obsolete version, wh ere is true that there are x´s on the filters already downloaded

You do not have to log in the website to be able to download any filter and also this is not needed either in the obsolete version, you only need to login only to use the forum as far as I know

Hi LexArt,

Thanks for the detailed response.

In the past and I am 95% sure that in the website method there was a way to download without first opening the filter in Filer forge. I recall this that when I discovered how to do it this way I was very happy and all went very smoothly and very fast. If not I would have complained then which I did not.

It is "very simple", "open in FF". What? I just want to download it not see it in FF. So for me it was not simple at all. I know there is a direct way. Why would anyone give us a method that was very slow? So I wasted a lot of time trying to find out how to download not “open in FF” the filters. Just add a little button on the thumbnails to download and if selected too many filters to remember the selection. This is common courtesy to the loyal customer base.

Apparently everyone else is happy with the current method. No one else is complaining. So perhaps I am doing something wrong and that is why it is going so slow. Or the current way is just fine and it may be that the problem is that I am impatient. And frugal!

If you want to download the filter without it opening in Filter Forge it is not the fault of Filter Forge it is the browser that you are using....When you click the link on a filter to open it then your broswers setting dictates what happens, it opens in Filter Forge or you can save it on your hard drive instead......
So it depends on what browser you are using.......You can have this setting to always ask what to do with that filter instead of opening in Filter Forge....
So what browser are you using?.....For windows10 and IE...
Program Defaults..

Here is another site with some more info about this...Default Programs

Firefox is much simplier and does not change the entire way that windows does thing....You can have firefox ask what to do with that file rather then open in Filter Forge...

Just a small note on the filter library backup. It does cost you, but consider that it's $29 for the entire library. There are 11,415 filters in the library at this point. That's $0.0025 a filter.

My work is in the library too. I tend to spend tons of time developing my filters so they look great and presentable. If I were to drop a price tag for each of my filters, I'd personally price them $10. But they're free.

In the end I don't think $29 is that bad of a price tag, and that $69 is still not a bad price tag considering you'd be swimming in a sea of filters painstakingly created by various authors through years and years of possibilities. And all of that is optional. Nobody's forcing you to buy anything if you don't want to. You're only paying for your convenience.

Either way, you kinda have your answer above. I just wanted to drop my feelings off with you. smile:| It's not as if you've done anything wrong. I just find your comment extreme you know?

As far as I know, and I started on 2008, never the filter website library could know wich filters you downloaded, and the only place where there is a little X telling that you have downloaded that filter is in the obsolete browser, and with obsolete browser you can mass download all the amount of filters you want, without having to do it one by one clicking on each one as it happens on the website

By the way, when you open the filter in filter forge from the website, you are really Downloading it to your own computer to the dedicated folder, so you can go there and find it

I do not think there should be any pain involved in getting more filters. It is for the filters one buys Filter Forge at least it was for me. Years ago I discovered a method that was good and fast to download more filters. I did not complain then. No reason to complain though they could have made the instructions clearer.

I have spent around $200 so on FF so far. I did not complain about that. No reason to do so. For that price however it should be very easy to get more filters. No?

https://www.filterforge.com/buy/librarian.html
“There are 11415 filters available in the online filter library. Though you can freely download them from the website, we also offer an archive of all library filters at a specific date in a single file – a convenient way to load all filters at once into your copy of Filter Forge.”

I assume this is available only if you purchase the Library Backup and Librarian.

As I said earlier it looks like I will spend the extra $ to get the filters. Your comments made even more likely that I would do so.

Perhaps I have used some of your filters and the filters of the other forum members offering a helping hand here. I am glad that there people like you out there. I love Filter Forge and all the people that make it happen. I am just very unhappy about the downloading of the filters.

I tired Internet explorer and Chrome. Looks like I will spend the money rather that the time to get this worked out. I just hope that it goes smoothly when I shell out the money. No unexpected issues arise and no hours of troubleshooting and no hours on the forum asking for help.

I appreciate the help from you and all. I know how time consuming this process is. Thanks to all.

Perhaps you should complain to Microsoft about the issue instead... smile;) Or try Firefox..

The methods did not change from years ago its always been the same...What looks like has changed thou is using windows 10 which you have to modify the settings in the browser to work since it does not remember what you did years ago...

if you want to use the obsolete method in Filter Forge and do not have the button in the top right showing this is how to make it appear......
Go to the Menus....Tools then choose Options....

Then when the options dialog pops up choose the Online tab......Then right below that is where you choose the Built-In browser.....So choose that and then click OK.....

Now once you do that a button should pop up to give you a new button to choose in the top right.......Click that Download more filters button for the built-in browser...This is where you can download lots of filters at once....But these do open in Filter Forge...This is not your internet browser....

I do a lot of downloading of software and libraries and had no issues that I recall.

I gave up on FF downloads using both methods and and bought the $69 Library package. I had no issues downloading the program. It seems to work very well. To get it to work I id not even have to read the instructions. I did not have to post here for help.

The library package is over priced in my opinion. It should be included free with the purchase of FF. If they want to make more $ then then should charge $ for the elaborates premium filters and not by charging for the library program. Perhaps even pay you $ for the premium filters.

Thanks again to CFandM, SpaceRay and Skybase and Lexart for all the time you devoted to help me. I am sure I will be using your great filters.

Roger! All we get is a free program for "popular" filters and free publicity for editor's picks, meh.

I propose that the FF filters specifications be enlarged
so even more desirable and usable filters can be designed.
The Authors can then charge for the filters. FF will profit
as FF becomes an even more desirable and indispensable tool.

In the music insustry there many such success stories.
VST, VSTi, AUX, Kontakt and so on. Individual developers
have made free and for sale plugins benefiting everyone.
No losers here! Everyone wins.

We don't want to maintain our own marketplace but filter authors have the opportunity to sell filters since the very beginning of Filter Forge. There is a number of popular digital marketplaces on the Internet, and nothing prevents you from selling filters there.

Wow that is fantastic!
Can you post some links?
Does FF promote these?

Me authoring some filters? No way!
I am consumer of filters.

I'm afraid there's little to promote: people prefer to rant here on the forum instead of offering their filters on CreativeMarket, Renderosity and similar marketplaces. I've heard Mark Johnson sells filters but I'm not sure if this is true.

I checked out Mark Johnson

Interesting fellow!

I am almost exclusively interested in the Creative and Distortion effects.
I could not find any these on his site.

Any other place to look?
Perhaps I missed the filter for sale page?
FF filers are a proprietary format. Correct?

I checlked out CreativeMarket
https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=...r+forge%22
Did not find any filters for sale.

Renderosity

Well you won't find filters being sold as abundant as photoshop plug-ins and actions if at all.....FF filters will only work with FF and cannot work otherwise without it.
I can also be commissioned to look at any filter ideals that you might have... smile;)

I will keep that in mind!

I could not find your Cube Complex B&W Version. Did search in FF5 and the Library. No luck.

Many of the squares in the top and bottom section are blank. The top port fills in as I scroll. The bottom part squares can stay blank for a half an hour. If I click on it, it begins to fill in the image. I have the feeling I must be doing something wrong. Now what is it? Did not have these issue with FF4.

My PC runs on a W3690 processor and 12 GB RAM.
