i had another crash last night and lost another filter. i was mostly able to reconstruct it again, but this is getting quite annoying! this time i had no warning, no sticky mouse cursor or lags; it simply crashed when i tried to save. i got the 'cant create event' error message and could save after that. oddly, it wasnt hung up/stuck. i could move around and such and look at everything. i could even copy the filter into the clipboard, but as soon as i tried to save again, FF just vanished along with the error message. poof!
please, please, please, fix this. i've lost too many filters this way! and if you cant fix it right away, at least put some sort of work-around in place so we're not losing our filters so much. an autosave feature or the ability to copy the filter to the windows clipboard so i could recover the filter upon reloading FF... i could just paste the thing back into a new filter or something. guys, destructive crashes are just no fun. please fix this! If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

That would help.....but in the meantime, I would suggest being very "religeous" about frequently saving two copies as you go.....has saved me many times from having to reconstruct from scratch..... ![]() ![]() Steve

K, so I finally get it, FF has MAJOR problems on dualcore computers. I just got mine set up last week, and I've had about 100 crashes since then. Before then, on an old P4 ? About one every 2 months. I can't believe they haven't fixed it yet, it's almost unusable as far as making/editing filters, you're going to lose 1/3 or more of your work. *sigh*

jffe, I would be willing to bet that FF is currently in the middle of overhauling the code to get rid of it.....

O.k., I feel like I should man up and update this, or at least my complaint/report above (and for any other threads I may have posted in right after getting my new dualcore machine), FF was not the problem. I have only experienced maybe 2% more crashes than before with my new dualcore. The problem I had was some defective ram, and after having it replaced for 2 weeks now, FF is running about 98%-99% as smoothly as it did on my old P4. FF still has a few little probs here and there, but it's not "much worse" on a dualcore as I had mistakenly thought, it was just worse on mine with defective ram. I just wanted to clarify that, since I tend to get pretty annoyed/verbose when I have issues, and in this case, I no longer feel FF v1.whatever we're on, is to blame.
