It would be nice if ff would allow us to render a selection of surface maps all at once.
Starter names would also be nice – something like: <filter name>_<map name>_<type of compression>_<precision>_<xy dimensions>.ext for example rock_normal_none_fl16_1024x1024.tiff Which maps and what settings could be saved as a part of the preset. Thanks ![]() @ronviers |

... and be rendered with the batch renderer. Why doesn't this work for you? |

It has been more trouble than it’s worth. I am still hoping for a wizard like gui, where I would be presented with sensible starting points and prompted for changes to defaults or incremental changes to previous trips through.

Yeah, me too. It's about as much work to set up the batch file as it is to just hit render, save 4 times. A wizard would add a lot to FF, for 3d users, IMHO.
A lot of programs have a multi-pass render, where it just renders everything, or at least what you tell it to render. For example: Vue8 has a nice multi-pass render option: http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/...te/?page=9 (check out the Video of it in action) Zbrush4 now has a multi-pass renderer: http://www.pixologic.com/zbrush/featu...ture-list/ (Again, there is a video on the subject on the site.) Modo can be set up to render several channels out: etc, etc Even little 'ol Art Rage can be export out a layered .psd with color, bump and specularity. |

What would be good is an option to add stuff to a queue to render later. So when you are in reduced size view, rather than having to wait ages for it to render again in full size, you can just click to add it to a queue, then you can pick to render all the stuff you added to the queue at the end of the day.
Release the Mongoose! |

With bootcamp you can doubleboot, Windows or Mac, but then, you need to upgrade your FF license to Mac OS X..

i know you can do that, both with bootcamp and parallels, but how efficient is it? do you lose some speed like with the virtual shell stuff? i've heard conflicting reports about bootcamp. some seem to think it's not very reliable. and parallels, doesnt that act as a virtual module and thus a bit slowed?
