Back in 2003, at the times when YouTube didn't even exist, Carole found a way to practice scrapbooking without any glue and mess – digital scrapbooking. Now she is an amateur scrapbooking artist who shares her wisdom on her Scrapbook Campus.

— How and when did you start your way in digital scrapbooking? Is it your work or your hobby?

I got a copy of PaintShop Pro 7 in 2003 but I had no clue how to use it until I found one site with a few tutorials (YouTube didn't exist then). Although I learned how to use it, I didn't know why I would use it until someone told me about digital scrapbooking. That piqued my curiosity and I finally found a way to do scrapbooking (I always wanted but I am not tidy enough) and use PSP for something. It was simply a hobby. It still is. However, I started showing others how to use PSP for digital scrapbooking, first through Yahoo groups, then, in 2011, on my own site, the Scrapbook Campus.

— When and how did you find Filter Forge?

I really don't know how I discovered Filter Forge, but the first version I bought was FF4. I saw it was promoted as a plugin for Photoshop, and since many plugins are also compatible with PSP, I gave it a try. I was very happy that it worked perfectly with PSP. I even made a little video for PSP users on how to install FF.

— How do you use Filter Forge? What other programs do you use in your workflow?

I like to create base patterns and textures for PSP. Instead of using ready-made textures/patterns that sometimes have limitations on their use, I create them from scratch with FF. For example, a script I coded for PSP to create a gem needed a base texture that is then applied to whatever shape and color the user picks. I created that texture with FF. PSP is just about the only program I use, especially since I create scripts and picture tubes that are specific to PaintShop Pro. Another way I use FF is to look "under the hood" for some specific effects and textures to see if some of them can be replicated natively with PSP. It serves mostly as a base since none so far can be replicated exactly the same way.

— What filters do you like most? Can I have a list of your favorite filters?

I like filters that create textures like fabric (jeans, knitting), food (ice cream cone, cookies, chocolate), but also various random textures for grungy effects. I've assembled more fun Filter Forge effects in the article on my website.
