The Average Color component extracts the average color from the original image currently loaded into Filter Forge (see Image component). This component can be used in color correction operations such as color cast removal. Average Color is a map component, it can be located in the External category on the Components Bar. Note that this component works on the external image only and cannot use other components as sources.
To produce the resulting color, the component averages R, G and B channels of all pixels of the image (the alpha channel is ignored). For example, if half of the original image is black, and the other half is white, Average Color produces 50% gray.
Any filter that includes the Average Color component is automatically classed as an Effect Filter. For more information, see Filter Classes.
