All Filter Forge filters fall into two classes – Texture filters that do not require any external data, and Effect filters that require a source image and/or selection. The purpose of this division is to separate the categories for Texture and Effect filters in the user interface and on the website. Here's how filters are classed into Textures and Effects:
In the category list, Texture categories are placed above the separator and Effect categories below the separator.
The Submit Wizard displays only the categories that match the class of the filter being submitted:
