The Online tab of the Options dialog lets you adjust the parameters affecting the online functionality of Filter Forge. The Options dialog is accessible by choosing Tools > Options from the Main Window menu.
Checking for updates
- Check for updates automatically – Filter Forge will automatically check the server for updated filters and software updates. The check is performed once a day, on the first startup.
- Ask me before checking – Filter Forge will ask your confirmation before checking the server for updated filters and software updates. The prompt to check the server is displayed once a day, on the first startup.
- Don't check and don't ask – Filter Forge will never check the server for updated filters and software updates, and will not prompt you to do so.
Sending the usage stats
- Send the usage stats automatically – Filter Forge will send your usage stats to our server automatically without notifying you.
- Always ask me before sending – Filter Forge will ask your permission before sending your usage stats to the server.
- Never send my usage stats – Filter Forge will never send your usage stats to the server, and will not prompt you to do so.
"Download more filters" command
- Use the website (recommended) – Filter Forge provides access to the Filter Library via the website. A hyperlink to the Library is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Main Window.
- Use the built-in library browser (obsolete) – Filter Forge provides access to the Filter Library via the built-in library browser. A hyperlink to the Library in the upper-right corner of the Main Window is replaced by a button that opens the built-in browser. This option is provided for compatibility with the older versions of Filter Forge. Also, the built-in library browser might be useful if you wish to download multiple filters at once.
Connection settings
- Automatic (recommended) – Filter Forge uses the connection settingsparameters defined in the Windows Internet optionsdefault connection settings.
- Direct connection – Filter Forge uses direct Internet connection.
- Use proxy – When connecting, Filter Forge uses the specified proxy host name and port number. The proxy must support the HTTPS protocol (CONNECT method).
